I took my kids,9 and 5yo on Saturday morning.Place was crowded but kids enjoyed all memorabilia on the walls.We got a table in 5 minutes.I ordered chicken fried steak and kids got a breakfast sandwich and a pancake.After one bite of my steak my daughter pulled my plate and that was my last bite.She ate steak,eggs and battled my son for the pancake.All were delicious. Our order was lost and arrived late.Staff came over to apologize and comped our meal!Left a huge tip and kids are excited to return.Cool place on original Rte 66

I had a great breakfast at College Street Cafe, and their country fried steak was the real star! The portion was huge, with crispy breading and a creamy, tasty gravy that nailed it. Toss in some golden hashbrowns, sunny-side-up eggs, and perfectly toasted bread, and it was a killer meal. My wife had the deep-fried French toast—crisp on the outside and perfect inside—and it was a total win with that sweet powdered sugar dusting. The place has a cozy vibe, and the downtown Springfield spot is super convenient. Can’t wait to hit it up again—5 stars all the way!

This was a great little place we stopped at on our Route 66 trip. Our server Emily was very friendly and pleasant. The food was decent too. The restaurant was clean and the decor was great.

This restaurant is a step back in time for Route 66. It's been a long staple in Springfield and has had many different names over the decades. However, great food and great service have remained the same. The menu has a variety of home cooked meals starting with breakfast, then lunch and dinner. The staff there works hard and is very friendly. It sits on College St, which used to be Route 66.

My wife and I visited here for breakfast.This is the cafe you would find years ago where the waitresses are maybe a bit older but experienced true professionals that cater to your needs and can put a smile on the most difficult personality. You feel like its your mom or Grandma and very appreciated. It's also nice the food reminds you of that same meal served by mom or Grandma as well. It was a great experience. I was from out of town. I wanted a good breakfast at a great price. I received exactly what I needed. I loved the atmosphere. Can't wait until next time I'm in the area to eat here again. Thanks for a great breakfast!
